Who What Where
Hey there. Thanks for joining me here. Who am I? I'm Caty McGill, a writer of paranormal fiction. I've lived in Florida most of my life but come from a long line of Irish Scots (not to be confused with Scotch-Irish or Scots-Irish, which is a totally different thing). Both of my grandfathers were from Ireland, my paternal grandmother was from Scotland. I love my Celtic heritage. It's what gave me my name, my fair skin, my blue eyes. And my fascination with folklore.
What Am I
You already know I'm a writer. I've been doing that for a long time - from the school paper to TV news to web content to fiction. A few years ago I decided it was time to stop writing scattershot and pin down my genre. Some experts advise - write what you'd like to read. What do I like to read?
Ghost stories
I am fascinated by all things paranormal and supernatural, magical and mystical. So that's where I decided to focus my writing. This is where the Celtic part comes in. So many of our spookiest and most enduring tales emerged from Ireland and Scotland - banshees, selkies, and yes - even vampires. Hence the brand: The Haunted Celt, whoooeeeeoooo (that's a spooky ghost sound).
Where Am I
Currently, I am hard at work editing my first completed manuscript. I'm on chapter 8, ugh. Long way to go. Then I will send it off to a developmental editor to shore up any weak spots.
Once manuscript 1 is off to the editor, I'll turn my focus to manuscript 2. It has been fully plotted out and about 1/4 written.
I plan to go the traditional publishing route but am not completely averse to self publishing.
So that's the story of the birth of the Haunted Celt. Cheers. Wear your mask. Be kind.
